about art

this is what I thought about it.
money could be one criteria,
but in this way:
if you see that the artist
is investing
as much as she can afford,
puts all her money in painting...
then
we can call it art.

but this is obviously wrong.
there can be art made out of recycled materials.
i have done paintings
on linoleum scraps for floors
as support,
spend 0 peso on canvas.

what was that then,
if not art?

defining art through materials or techniques
is not possible anymore.
something about the creative process...
 seems more like it.
